Patricia Ruth Mason Johnson, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born Particia Ruth Machen on May 17, 1941, in Idaho Falls, ID to Thomas and Ruth Machen. She was the youngest of 4 children. She loved and adored her sister and two brothers. They were close all their lives. She spent her childhood on a farm in Osgood until her parents moved to town. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
Patrica married Jay Mason, with whom she had 6 children. They moved their family to Bountiful in the late 1960’s, where they lived for many years, raising their family and making lifelong friends. Later in life, she married James Clifford Johnson, Jr. Patricia and Cliff lived in California for several years before moving back to Utah to be near Patricia’s children.
Mom was blessed with many talents and abilities. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and gardener. She was an accomplished pianist and loved to paint, draw and quilt. In her later years, one of her favorite pastimes was tending to her beautiful flower garden.
Mom enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and made time to support their interests. For many years, she met weekly with a group of ladies to play games and enjoy friendship. She lived a life marked by service, kindness and love. She devoted her life to nurturing her family and enriching the lives of those around her. She touched many lives and left a legacy of compassion, service and love.
She was a devoted disciple of her Savior, Jesus Christ and a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She used her many talents in service to her church.
She is survived by her husband Clifford Johnson, her children, Lori Smith, Doug and Gerrilyn Mason, Steven and Lesley Mason, Tiffani and Jason Vriens, Michael Mason, 13 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren, Cliff’s 4 children and grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Mom is now reunited with loved ones who passed before her. Her parents, siblings, daughter Michelle, son in law Andy, daughter in law Allison, and dear friends. We take comfort in the plan of happiness and our Savior’s atonement, that we may all be reunited again as the bonds of death are only temporary. Mom will be missed, but forever in our hearts.
