Patricia Ann Perkins Jensen 1934-2011
Bountiful – Patricia Ann Perkins Jensen, 76, returned peacefully to the arms of her Savior on Friday, April 15, 2011. Pat was born on November 25, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Glenn and Lydia Ann Christiansen Perkins. She grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Davis High School. Pat married her eternal sweetheart, Paul Cecil Jensen, on June 18, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together Pat and Paul made homes and lifelong friendships in Germany, where Paul served in the military, and later in Gallup, New Mexico; Grand Junction and Denver, Colorado; and Salt Lake City, Vernal and Bountiful, Utah. Pat was adored by her four children, 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews. Pat was also Mom to three girls through the LDS Church Indian Placement Program. Pat had a great love of music and taught piano lessons to many students over a span of 38 years. She was active in the Utah Music Teachers Association and the Colorado Music Teachers Association, and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Pat was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a member of the Bountiful 27th Ward. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and a deep and abiding love for her Savior. She served faithfully in many callings during her lifetime, including Primary President, Stake Relief Society Presidency, Young Womens Organization and Scout Leader. She was an organist in the Denver Temple and an Ordinance Worker in the Bountiful Temple. She also conducted many choirs, including Temple Choirs in Denver and Bountiful. She sang for several years in the Colorado Mormon Chorale. She later enjoyed playing piano for the Bountiful Senior Center Jazz Band. Pat blessed the lives of those who knew her. She loved people and made friends wherever she went. Her kind and compassionate nature made her a true disciple of Christ. She was happiest when serving others and when surrounded by her family. She relished being a wife, mother and homemaker, and loved her role as Gram to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a result of childhood Rheumatic Fever, Pat suffered with ill health throughout her life, but few realized the magnitude of her physical limitations because she refused to let it get her down. She lived life to its fullest and was a true example of enduring to the end. Her beautiful, smiling face will be carried in our hearts forever. We feel confident that Pat is now strong and healthy again and is riding a bicycle, as she always dreamed of doing. We also know that she is leading choirs of angels in heaven and is having long-awaited reunions with family members on the other side of the veil. We look forward to the day when we are all reunited as a forever family. Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Paul Cecil Jensen; her four children: Cheryl (Darwin) Cottle, Daniel (Melinda) Jensen, Ryan (Teri) Jensen, and Carrie (Daniel) DeCoopman; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless dear friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (LaRee Wise and Donna Austin); dear brothers/sisters-in-law; and a beloved son-in-law (Dennis Peacock), as well as two sisters and a brother whom she is now meeting for the very first time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the Bountiful 27th Ward LDS Chapel, 1145 N. 200 E., on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Viewings will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, April 18 at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and Tuesday morning from 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com. The family wishes to express gratitude to all those ministering angels who continually and lovingly served Pat through her many years of illness. She loved and appreciated you all!
