Patrick Hugh Dowdle

Patrick Hugh Dowdle, a resident of Bountiful, Utah was 66 years young when he mercifully passed away from the ravages of end-stage liver disease on February 21, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and dearest friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Cora Wiggins.

He was born on October 23, 1951 to Clara Louise Ellis and Warren Benjamin Dowdle, Sr.. The 4th of 9 children, his family made their permanent home in Layton,Utah when he was just a teenager. Later in life he met and married the love of his life, Susan Irene King on April 21, 2000 in Farmington, Utah after a whirlwind romance of only three weeks! Two years later they were sealed for Time and all Eternity in the Bountiful Utah Temple on December 7, 2002 in the company of 25 of their closest ‘Ward family’ brothers and sisters.

Patrick lived to help others and  whenever he heard of a need, even in the middle of the night, he did everything he could to offer relief.

He was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Bountiful 5th Ward, Stone Creek Stake and held several callings. His first and favorite calling was that of a door usher/greeter. He then became known as, ‘The Candy Man’, for over 16 years as he was always prepared with pockets full of sweet treats that he would sneak into the hands of unsuspecting little children as they entered the Chapel. Even when this calling ended, the children would eagerly seek him out of the congregation every Sunday, and once found, he would happily oblige them,

He was superb as a Nursery worker and then called as 1st Counselor in the Sunday School Presidency. His calling as a Home Teacher was the highlight of his membership in the Ward. He enjoyed visiting with other members, and especially, with the less-active ones.

In death he is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Susan Irene King Dowdle, his 7 siblings: Warren Benjamin Dowdle, Jr., James Dowdle, Greg Dowdle, Shree Nance, Erlene Tanner, Brad Dowdle, and Fred Dowdle; his 5 daughters: Stacie (Jeff) Chidester, Cindy (Tracy) Charlton, Mindi (Rick) Bingham, Tami (Shaun) Eck, and Heidie (Nathan) Ball; and 20 grandchildren.

A wake (viewing) will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah on February 26, 2018 from 6-8 pm.

Per his request, his mortal remains will be cremated and a private burial will follow at a future date.
