Patsy (Pat) Carol Alvord

March 26, 1936 — January 5, 2019

Mom passed away at home after a valiant battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones on January 5, 2019. Pat was born March 26, 1936 in Salt Lake City to William Alfred Steele and Sarah Leona Brown. She was the youngest of 8. Her brother Max died of cancer before she was born. She was 16 months old when her father passed away in a car accident.

She was a caregiver her whole life moving around with her mother to help with her other siblings. She took care of her mother even moving her in when she got married and cared for her the rest of her life. She moved frequently and attended 9 different schools.

She attended West High and that is where she met her future husband Mickey in a science class. After high school they met again when he came into Beneficial Life to make a payment. They were sealed in the Salt Lake temple on June 28, 1957.

She served in many church callings her favorite ones being a stake missionary and temple worker. She was very active in PTA and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was very talented and creative with her paintings and crafts using them to work for Utah Craft.

She was always supportive of her husband in everything he did becoming his primary caregiver for the majority of his life until his passing in 2016. Family, Friends and Faith was her motto. They had four children Mike (Libby), Judy (Mike) Meldrum, Mark (Jill) and Michelle (Dennis – deceased) Rodgers. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren loving each one dearly.

We would like to thank all those who helped care for mom especially Utah Cancer Specialist and Summit Health Care. Funeral services will be held Friday January 11, 2019 at 11:00 in the Salt Lake 33rd Ward 453 South 1100 East.
