Patsy Ruth Williams Sontheimer, a long-time resident of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday November 19 after a long battle with cancer. She was 85.
Pat was the second child of Wilburn and Julia Tanner Williams born in Beaumont, Texas on August 15, 1927. She graduated from Vidor High School in 1943. She began work with Superior Oil in Houston as a telephone operator. She later graduated from beauty school and went on to co-own and operate the Flair Salon of Beauty in Houston for many years. She moved to Salt Lake City in 2009 to be close to her son and other family members but remained a true Texan until the end.
Pat was a true and loyal mother, grandmother, and friend. She seemed to find her greatest joy and pride in her son and grandchildren and their accomplishments. She had a very generous spirit. Pat was a spiritual woman praying often and reading the Bible. She had a great love for her Savior Jesus Christ.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Thomas, and her brother Virgil Williams. She is survived by her son, Richard Sontheimer, M.D. and daughter-in-law, Liz, of Salt Lake City; her granddaughters Kristin Collins of Orem, Utah, and Erin Madsen, of Ephraim, Utah; her grandson Clayton Sontheimer, M.D. of Seattle, Washington; her 3 great-grandsons and her great-granddaughter. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews and friends in both Utah and Texas.
Pat’s family would like to thank the nurses of Millcreek Home Hospice and her home care aides for their kind and compassionate care of Pat in her last weeks and days.
Burial took place in the Bountiful City Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah on Saturday November 24.
