Paul E. Galloway 12/4/1919 11/0/2011
On November 10, 2011 our father, grandfather, brother, & friend returned to heaven to be with his eternal sweetheart, Emma.
Born December 4, 1919 in Shelley, Idaho to George and Sarah Maples Galloway. He grew up on Marion Street and graduated from West High School where he excelled in art and sports.
With a love for his country dad joined the Army Air Corps and proudly served as radio operator and side gunner in a B-17 Flying Fortress. He is the last of his crew of 10 that became life long friends and brothers. Dad was wounded on a mission over Lorient, France resulting in the loss of his left eye. After recovering he became a head instructor setting up radio and combat procedure schools in England and Ireland. He also set up training schools for the Loran Radar. Later in the war he went on undercover missions capturing enemy planes to learn about their technology. While on leave at a USO dance the handsome young Yank pursued the prettiest girl there, a Scottish lass named Emma. After turning him down the first time with, No, I dont dance with Yanks. She eventually agreed to dance with him. That dance led to a romance and marriage of over 60 years.
After returning home he continued his education while working at Hill Air Force Base and Sperry Univac specializing in logistics programs for several missal programs. He also worked at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
Dad was strong in his LDS faith and was a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple for many years. He held many positions in the church, but his favorite was teaching the gospel to others. Thanks Dad for giving us a great life and example to live by. We love you!!!
Survived by children; Pauline (Bill) Preston, Scot, & Bruce, grandchildren; Stephanie (Jeff) Hamilton, Randy Preston, John Preston, Michael Preston, & Robert Galloway, 8 great-grandchildren, brother Charles, and many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by parents, brothers Richard and Henry, wife Emma, & daughter-in-law Dusty.
The family would like to thank the kind and loving angels at the Silverado who cared for our dad and where always there for him.
