Paul James Phillips

April 18, 1965 — August 22, 2022

Paul James Phillips, age 57, passed away on August 22, 2022, in Murray, Utah from complications due to cancer that he fought for the past year.  Paul was born April 18, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lorenzo Ray Phillips and Wilma Fuhrmann.

Paul loved to fish, go on road trips, and spend time with his family, which included painting his daughter’s fingernails.  Paul had a love for cars.  He could tell you something about any car he saw on the road.  Paul had a great sense of humor that his nieces and nephews loved.

Paul graduated from Granger High School in 1983.  He married Michele Neff in October 1985.  They had two daughters and later divorced.  Paul married Rachel Detro on November 13, 1999, in the Denver Colorado Temple.  They have one daughter.  He was most recently employed by BioFire Diagnostics in Salt Lake City as a Quality Supervisor.  Paul was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many callings.

He is survived by his wife Rachel, daughters Brielle (Louis) Thompson, Kenzie and Callie, mother Wilma, sister Shauna, brother Mike (Carlene), nephews Brandon, Matthew (Katie) and Marcus, and grandson Grayson.  He was preceded in death by his father and sister Janna.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, West Bountiful Stake Center, 1930 North 600 West. A closed casket visitation (Paul’s request) will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.  Memories may be shared in the “Guestbook” tab on this obituary page.

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page.  The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the services and will be posted below.
