Paul Roger Cox, 82 of Bountiful, passed away Friday December 1, 2017 at his home, finally experiencing peace following years of Alzheimers disease. He was born November 12, 1935, in Cedar City, Utah, the son of Paul Jedediah Cox and Mary Ruth McMullin. His early years were spent in Cedar City before his family moved to Salt Lake City, where he graduated from East High School, and later attended the College of Southern Utah. On June 7, 1957, he married Joyce Albrecht in Loa , Utah. They were sealed on their 10th wedding anniversary in the Manti LDS Temple. He served his country in the United States Army for 3 years followed by an Honorable Discharge. Roger and Joyce settled in Bountiful, Utah where they raised four children. The majority of Roger’s working years were spent driving truck, first for Garrett Freight Lines and later ABF and ANR. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union and logged in millions of accident free miles. Roger enjoyed fishing, taking the road less traveled, reading the newspaper, collecting a variety of items ;), working on vehicles and most of all…ice cream.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Cox of Bountiful; their children, Gary Cox of Bluffdale, Gena Cox (Hollie Tanner) of Salt Lake City, Denine (Tim) Heyrend of Highland, and Cheryl (David) Farnsworth of Jerome, ID. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one sister, Christine, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Douglas Cox.
A visitation will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 4. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, in the Bountiful LDS 15th Ward Chapel, 1250 S. Main St., Bountiful. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the Bountiful Cemetery.
