Paul Y Howard

October 4, 1942 — August 21, 2017

Our beloved Sweetheart, Dad, Pop, brother, friend and Chief, Paul Y. Howard, left his earthly home on August 21, 2017, and returned to Heaven for a joyous reunion with anxiously awaiting loved ones.
Paul was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 4, 1942, to Frank Y. and Agnes Miller Howard. He married the love of his life, Janice Watson, on October 15, 1976. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 21, 1989.
Paul graduated from West High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Utah. After several years in banking, he decided to switch careers and do what he truly loved; police work. He worked in law enforcement for 45 years in various positions and was the Chief of Police in Woods Cross City for 20 years until he retired in 2011.
Paul was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. He lived a life of service and led by example. He had a huge heart and went about his quiet way helping others. He believed in having a positive attitude and was always a champion of the underdog.
Paul was a devoted family man that did everything in his power to provide for and protect his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and a "Utah Man" through and through. Next to spending time with his wife and grandkids, he loved Sunday Night Football, NHL Playoff games, fountain Pepsi and Oregon Coast sunsets. Although he was a man of few words, his sound advice, crazy criminal stories, quick wit and cheshire grin will be deeply missed.
Paul is survived by his wife and best friend of 41 years, Janice; Children: Mark (Allison) Howard, Jeff (Gerri) Howard, Doug (Heather) Howard, Ann (Ron) Whitecar, Wendy (Chad) Bangerter, Mindy (Shane) Thomas, Michael (Halie) Howard, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Siblings: John (Vicky) Howard, Jayne (Brian) Farr and Janet (Roger) Smedley. Proceeded in death by his parents and father-in-law, LaMar Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 25, 2017, at the Stonecreek Stake Center across from Viewmont High School, 990 N. Chapel Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may visit Thursday, August 24, 2017, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and Friday morning 9:30 to 10:30 am, at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at the Bountiful Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
