After walking with grace and dignity through his journey with Stage IV lung cancer the past five years, Pedro Alvalle passed away after having a stroke on May 24, 2023. Pedro was born on November 14, 1942, in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.
Predeceased by Pedro Alvalle, Sr. (father), Maria L. Arroyo (mother) and Orlando Alvalle, (grandson). Pedro is survived by his wife, Rae Lynn Alvalle; children, Pedro Jr., Lydia, Rachel, and James Alvalle; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Pedro excelled in his studies, attending the University of Puerto Rico prior to being drafted. He served honorably in the United States Army as a Chemical and Biological Warfare Specialist. Pedro’s work career in Utah began at the Bingham Copper Mine. He then followed his extended career at the Department of Workforce Services, where he retired after a distinguished career of 40 years.
One of the highlights of Pedro’s life was being a soccer coach and an Assistant Scout Leader. He enjoyed camping, golfing, bowling, and was an avid cyclist before he became ill. Pedro could interact with people from different cultures, socio-economic backgrounds and religious affiliations. He was a man of great integrity and honor. His patriotism was second to none. You could always count on seeing an American flag or eagle on his home, vehicles and T-shirts.
