Phillip John Adams

(1961-2022)

Phillip John Adams (age 60) passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at his home in South Weber, Utah, after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

Phillip was born December 3, 1961 in Seattle, Washington to his parents Lilian Ruth Reed and John Walcott Adams, the youngest of five children with three full siblings: Donald, Peggy, and Kelly; and one half-sibling: Patty. Most of his young life was spent moving from place to place, before ultimately settling in Mesa, Arizona. When he reached adulthood, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he met the love of his life, Deborah Joyce Jaeger. They were married June 28th, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked throughout his life, both as a photographer and an engineer, earning two degrees, an Associate’s in Engineering from ITT Technical Institute, and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Stevens-Henager College.

Phillip was a doer. Every chance he got, he was outside, hiking, riding his bicycle, and taking photography of the wildlife. He loved being active and spent at least two hours outside every day. He and his wife often competed in marathons, sometimes finishing it so fast, he could go back to the hotel, take a shower, and head back to meet her at the finish line. In a way, doing was his love language. He constantly had a project he was working on, something he wanted to do for his wife, his family, or his friends: a brand-new porch, a new guest room, better shelving in the storage room. It was how he told you he loved you. He also had a fond love of music, serving as the chorister for his local church and participating in a barbershop choir.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah, and his three children: Paul, Andrew, and Sarah, as well as a soon-to-be son-in-law Aaron Brown, and a dog, Mickey D. He is also survived by his father John, all three of his full siblings, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his mother Lilian, his stepfather Ken Milroy, his half-sister Patty, his brother-in-law Bob Hutton, and several other uncles and cousins, as well as another dog, Milo.

Services will be held February 19th, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the church building at 1814 E 7775 S, South Weber, UT. His remains will be interred at the Huntsville Cemetery. Russon Funeral Home oversaw the arrangements.

Special thanks for the support of friends and family, as well as the nurses and caretakers of Canyon Hospice Care.

“Oh, I believe there are angels among us

Sent down to us from somewhere up above

They come to you and me in our darkest hours

To show us how to live, to teach us how to give

To guide us with the light of love”

–“Angels Among Us,” Alabama (His favorite song)
