Our loving Son, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away on April 10, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on June 8, 1964 in Bountiful, Utah. A son of William Gardner and Norma June Schmutz.
Phil was a kind and gentle man who made friends everywhere he went. He was the father of two beautiful daughters, Kyra and Morgan, who he loved more than anything and they loved him.
Phil graduated from Bountiful High School where he was an accomplished athlete. He attended Utah Valley University on a baseball scholarship. He loved sports his entire life—U of U football games, playing golf and coaching his daughter’s soccer teams. He also loved playing the guitar and cooking. He was famous for “Phil’s salsa”, which he shared with everyone.
Being a father was Phil’s greatest joy. He will be dearly missed by daughters Kyra (13) and Morgan(3), parents Dr. William Gardner and Norma June Schmutz, sister Shelley Schmutz Olsen (Ray), brother, Kenneth Schmutz (Carrie), his former wife, Christina Jepson and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was a member of the LDS church and we know that Heavenly Father is by his side as he looks over his daughters.
