October 4, 2017 — October 23, 2017

Polly Faye Thomas Steenblik
August 4, 1933 – October 23, 2017 (age 84)
Polly, age 84, passed away at home October 23, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born August 4, 1933 in Pleasant View, Idaho to Viola Criesta Peterson and Charles Edward Thomas and was the youngest of 7 children.  She married John Fred Steenblik in the Salt Lake Temple August 13, 1959.
Polly served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to The Netherlands.  She and her companions toured the country singing in many concert halls and producing dance festivals.   While serving she met her future husband who was also serving a mission in The Netherlands.  They married shortly after her return and were married almost 30 years before John passed away in May, 1989.  Polly was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities.  She was also involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served a service mission at the Sugarhouse LDS Employment Center.  Polly also worked at the LDS Church headquarters for many years.
Polly was loved by all and was a true resource for homemaking and gardening skills and shared her knowledge with many.  Those who knew her would turn to her for advice and lessons on how to preserve their favorite fruits and vegetables.  She and John were avid gardeners and produced much of their family’s food.  Polly is known for her willingness to serve others and her continual positive attitude.  The great legacy she leaves her children and grandchildren is her faithful testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ, which she portrayed in all aspects of her life.
Polly has 5 children, 26 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband John Fred Steenblik, son-in-law Richard Paul Jensen and daughter-in-law Denise Layne Steenblik. She is survived by Valene (Trent) Neel, Tyler (Becky) Steenblik, Carter (Susie) Steenblik, Margo (Steve) Butler and Lincoln (Kim) Steenblik.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Gayle Walker and Hope Price.
