Quin was born on May 1, 1987 in Pasadena, California, to Brad and Rachelle Kofford. Those who know Quin know that he lived larger than life and that he lit up any room or situation just by walking in. As a toddler he could bring a gathering of adults to a complete stop because of the funny things he would say and do. As a child, he was his dad’s “little shadow”—always with him and ever curious. Quin was always in the middle of anything and everything, which meant his mom and dad were peppered with all sorts of quintessentially Quin questions, observations and comments—most of them hysterical—some of them tender and unforgettable.
Our Father in Heaven blessed Quin with a natural ability to talk to anyone and everyone, including complete strangers. Quin could find humor in anything and regularly used that gift to lighten the mood and convey love, understanding and belonging. Within seconds, anyone who interacted with Quin would be caught up in his infectious wit and enormous gravitational pull. Quin drew people to him through his contagious happiness and zeal for life. He was a deeply caring and loving person. He naturally observed those around him and found ways to make them feel noticed and loved. He hated conflict and was a master at diffusing it. We are grateful for his unique ability to capture or create a word or phrase in just the right way or with just the right intonations or mannerisms to make it an immediate “Quin-ism” to thereafter forever be quoted. We are grateful these Quin-isms are now a forever part of our family and that in them we feel him near.
Quin loved his family deeply. He has a twin brother, Cree, and three sisters, Whitney, Jordan and Heather. As younger kids, he and his siblings shared an intangible and undeniable connection that has since spread to include a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and lots of nieces and nephews. All, including especially his siblings, will miss his intentional acts of kindness such as homemade breakfasts, running errands together, and being called by various nicknames including "Gee-Bird," “Twitters,” “Jordo,” “Treasure,” "Tootest 'lil Bieber" and countless others . Quin will always be remembered as an amazing one-of-a-kind son, brother, and best friend to all.
Quin served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Edinburgh, Scotland where he loved the Scots and vice-versa. Shortly after his mission he began dating Jaclyn Capson. It took Quin just a few hours to realize he had met someone with tangible grit, incredible depth, extraordinary love and understanding, and an equally powerful gravitational pull. After begging and waiting for the approval of his future father in law, Quin and Jaclyn were married in the Bountiful temple on August 28, 2009. They have since been blessed with three adorable and equally powerful children: Collins, Knox, and Wren. His children have always been Quin’s infinite joy and entire world. He was so proud and excited when each one arrived. He was the most wonderfully cute and involved dad. Not surprisingly, laughter punctuated their lives. With Quin, challenges became laughter and connection; and tears or fears became giggles of assurance that all was or would soon be alright. Quin took pleasure in simple things and recognized they brought joy to his family: holidays, baseball games, horses, stringing Christmas lights, family traditions, snuggling, motor-homing and boardgames, and the list goes on.
We are certainly saddened by the loss of our husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. His unexpected death has left an unanticipated hole in each of our hearts. But we are grateful for the Plan of Salvation and the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ whom we know is aware of and will help mend our broken hearts. We look forward to being with Quin again. Until then we know he will remain part of our lives . . . and until then we will continue to feel his love and laughter in our hearts.
Quin is survived by his wife Jaclyn, their children Collins (10), Knox (8), and Wren (5), his parents, Brad & Rachelle Kofford, siblings, Cree Kofford (Megan), Whitney Brailsford (Brett), Jordan Wagner (Tyson), and Heather Kofford.
