Raeola "Raye" Wood

March 8, 1918 — August 7, 2013

Raeola “Raye” Marlene Olsen Wood 1931-2013. Raye Wood, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away in Sandy, Utah on August 7th, 2013. She was born March 8, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kimball Moroni Olsen and Wanda Elva Swenson. She was raised in Bountiful, Utah where she graduated from Davis High School in 1949. She married Ralph Porter Wood on May 12, 1950 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple, and together they had five children. They lived in Bountiful until 1973 when they moved to Vernal. Raye and Ralph served an LDS mission to San Jose, California from 1994 to 1995, after which they were ordinance workers in the Vernal LDS Temple. Raye has been a faithful member of the Daughter’s of the Utah Pioneers for over 40 years serving in leadership a majority of the time. Raye was devoted to her family, her friends, and her church. She leaves a legacy of love, devotion, service, and strength. She is survived by her husband and her children: Michael (Cheryl) Kim Wood, Ronald (Wendy) Ralph Wood, Debra (Kent) Cook, Diana (Paul) Simons, and Marvin (Shelly) Lee Wood, 24 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Ron Thurgood of Syracuse, Utah. She is also survived by one sister, Gayle (Jerry) Smith of San Diego, California. A graveside service will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S 200 W, at 10:00 am on August 10, 2013. The family expresses appreciation to IHC Hospital, Inspiration Hospice, and Russon Brothers Mortuary for their kind services.
