Ralph D Coon, Jr.

Our beloved Poppop passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 11, 2018. Poppop was born on May 4, 1926 in Bridgeport, CT.  He enlisted in the army as soon as he turned 18 and served honorably on Iwo Jima during WWII.  He married his bride, June, in 1950, and they have two beautiful daughters, Darlene and Debbie.  June passed away in April 1990, and Ralph remained unceasingly loyal to her until his death. Ralph loved his career as a firefighter.  He worked for 32 years for the Bridgeport Fire Department where he retired as an Assistant Chief. He moved to Bountiful, Utah with his daughter, Debbie, and granddaughter, Melanie in 1993.  His daughter, Darlene, followed a few years later, along with all his grandchildren.  Poppop loved his friends and neighbors in Bountiful and never regretted his move out West.

               Ralph is survived by his brother, Kenny (Angie) Coon; daughters, Darlene (Mark) Verrillo and Debbie Bike; granddaughters Melanie Bike, Melissa (Shawn) Roberts, Jaime (Zach) Curren, Tracy (Brent) Pollock, and Lauren (Brandon) Hunt; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 ½ great great grandchildren. Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, June; and granddaughter, Jennifer Bike.  Also preceding him in death are his parents, Ralph and Veronica Coon; sisters Louise Flessner and Barbara Kenney; and brother Reggie Coon.

               Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Bountiful 24th ward at 720 E 550 N in Bountiful, UT with a viewing from 11:45-12:45 that day.  There will also be a viewing at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main in Bountiful on July 16, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  There will also be a viewing at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Pl., Stratford, CT on July 21, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull, CT.
