Ralph Stuart Johnson

July 24, 1932 — July 9, 2023

Kaysville

July 9, 2023 Ralph Stuart Johnson, “Oh Awesome Sir” passed away peacefully at his home. Ralph was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elving V. Johnson and Florence Tingey Johnson on July 24, 1932.  He married Linda Johnson in March of 1976.

Ralph moved with his family at the young age of two to Bountiful, Utah.  He attended all years of his public education there, having a perfect attendance record.  He attended “dear old Davis High School” graduating in 1950.  He had many fond memories of classmates and teachers.  He worked at Clay’s Men’s Wear during high school and was voted best dressed his senior year.  After high school Ralph went to the University of Utah where he fulfilled his pre-dental training.  He was then accepted into dental school at the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.  There he completed his dental training.  He served one year in San Francisco with the Public Health Service, then was transferred to Zuni, New Mexico as a dentist serving the Native Americans.  After his time there, he returned to Bountiful to begin his practice.  Except for a six year move to Sedona, Arizona and a short time in Ogden, Utah, he practiced in Bountiful until retiring after 50 years.

Ralph was an avid skier and loved to travel.  He was a dedicated gardener, and his lawn and garden were always immaculate.

Ralph loved the Lord and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in which he served in many capacities; Sunday school teacher, Primary teacher, in the Stake Young Men’s Association, Stake High Council, Branch Presidency, Counselor, Branch President and later Bishop.  He loved every calling he held.  Most especially he loved to teach and always came with a lesson well prepared. He also served as a temple ordinance worker in Ogden and Bountiful Temples.

Ralph had a special capacity to serve others and had a way of connecting and influencing many. The most important thing in his life was his family.  Just a visit, even a short one, filled him with joy.  He never stopped praising them as individuals.

Ralph was preceeded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia, an infant son, Shawn, parents Elving and Florence, brothers Dick, Leon and Dean.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons Gregg Johnson (Nannette), Jeff Johnson (Darcelle), Renan Jefferies (Amy), Rhett Jefferies (Marci) and daughters Raechel Jefferies, Jennifer Johnson (Jesse Ribble), Brittany Utley (Dallas), Lindsay Johnson. 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with two he has already met coming later this year.

The family would like to thank Autumn, Fernando, Lindsey and Shanna of Symbii Hospice Services for their wonderful and compassionate care.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday, July 14 from 9:30 – 10:40 AM.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 14.
