Ralph Lee Carlson, age 90, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away at home August 11, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a long, valiant, and honorable life. He was born February 15, 1926 to John Martin Carlson and Delta Everon Young in Eden, WY. He was schooled in Sweetwater County, lettered in orchestra and football, and enjoyed growing up there. He joined the Navy during WWII at age 17 and left home. He crossed the Atlantic to land in Oran, North Africa. After outfitting their ship, LST 561, they departed to land in the European Theater on D?Day (June 6, 1944). After the German surrender in May 1945, he returned home to Eden, WY. He worked for the DOI, Bureau of Reclamation constructing the Big Sandy Dam, north of Farson, WY, completed in 1951. Reclamation offered him a job in Albuquerque, NM. Stopping in Ogden, UT along the way to visit his brother Johnnie, Ralph met Eva Deon Jones and they were married on March 11, 1952 in Elko, Nevada. They settled down in Woods Cross, UT and began a family. They raised five sons: Randy (JoAnn), West Bountiful, UT; Gary (Marcianne), Provo, UT; Donald (Terrie), Morgan, UT; Steven, Salt Lake City, UT; and Kenneth (Tina), Ephraim, UT. Ralph is survived by his children; brother Charles Alfred (Genevieve), Albuquerque, NM; sister Greta May Jackson, San Manuel, AZ; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Deon; sister Evelyn Marie Payne; brothers Albert Bruce and Johnnie Martin; and grandson Jason Ralph. Graveside services Sat.
