Ralpheyn Jones

April 11, 1931 — October 6, 2012

On Saturday morning October 6, 2012 we lost our gracious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She died at home in Bountiful, Utah.
Ralpheyn Kearsley Jones, eldest daughter of Bertha Jennifaye Conger and Edwin Ralph Kearsley, was born April 11, 1931 in Victor, Idaho. Her life was filled with love of family and joy of being an American. Throughout her life she had the opportunity to travel to many countries and places, but her favorite place remained Victor, Idaho with its view of the Tetons.
Ralpheyn and Evan E Jones, Jr. were married in Pocatello, Idaho in 1953. Their marriage was sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1973. They are the parents of five children: Larry (Maggie Richards) Jones, Tamara (Ron) Mortensen, Randy (Eve Israelsen) Jones, Paula (Nate) McClellan, and Steven (Sarah Hancock) Jones.
Ralpheyn is survived by her two sisters and their families: Sharon Ann and Charles Reade and Jan and Ken Peterson. Her Jones in-laws are Jay Jensen, Maurene Crandall, Dan and Pat Jones, Robert and Diane King, Richard Jones, and David and Nancy Jones. She is survived by 23 grandchildren, 9 of whom have spouses; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Ralpheyn graduated from Pocatello High School in 1949. She attended Idaho State University and graduated from Brigham Young University. She worked as a secretary until the birth of her first child, Larry. She then devoted her time to being a homemaker. All who entered her home felt welcome.
She was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many Relief Society Presidencies and was a devoted Visiting Teacher. She volunteered at the Bountiful Temple. She and Evan served a service mission at the Centerville Employment Service. Her favorite church calling was Name Extraction Missionary. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was proud to be a daughter of God.
The family would like to thank the many professionals that worked with Ralpheyn during her extended illness, which included the staff of the Center for Alzheimer’s Care at the University of Utah. Ralpheyn participated in several Alzheimer Trial Medication Studies and often commented as to how gracious and kind were those she came in contact with. The staff of South Davis Hospice, especially Carrie Hopkins and Chrystal Ford, were so helpful and tender as they cared for Ralpheyn at home during her last days. Neighbors and friends, particularly Georgia and Milo Paskett and Janet and Sherm Johansen, checked on Ralpheyn and Evan on a daily basis. The family is appreciative of the condolences and well wishes expressed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Bountiful North Stake Center, 1540 North 400 East. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, First Time Temple Fund, Shriners Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
