Ramona Hall Robison
1934 – 2016
Ramona Hall Robison passed away in her home on May 13, 2016, at the age of 81, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born in Rigby, Idaho October 19, 1934 to Victor Warren Hall and Whaneta Goody Hall. She married Jay Lee Robison in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 14, 1953. She was the youngest child in the family and had two older brothers. She grew up on a dairy farm in Annis, Idaho and graduated from Rigby High School.
After marriage she supported her husband while he got his education at the University of Moscow Idaho. During this time she had two children, Anita Lee Robison and Mona Marie Robison. After Jay graduated from college they moved to Corona, California having lived there for 4 years. Then moved to West Valley, Utah in 1961 where Cozette Robison was born in 1962. In 1967 they moved to Bountiful, Utah to the house they built and still live in to this day.
She always loved keeping herself busy but not to the extent of finding a job outside the home because it took away from raising the family. Instead, to keep herself home but still working, she started and ran a fabric mail order business due to the fact that Tricot fabric was unavailable in stores and she wanted to help provide it to those who were unable to get it for themselves. She then sold this business in 1968 to raise her son Jay Thad Robison.
Patchwork quilting was among her greatest of gifts of which she loved sharing with the world around her. She found a love of going to fabric stores and choosing just the right fabric, having any eye for finding the right colors that together created a beautiful and priceless work of art. Because of this, she created what is known as a cottage industry and sold the quilts through gift shows in California.
She had quilters all over Utah, Idaho and Wyoming to help her finish each of her pieces.  She cut the fabric in the basement of her home, sewed the tops and sent them off to be finished. Just ask her kids how many times they had to pull pin needles out of the soles of their feet (grandkids too).
She made a countless amount of beautiful quilts, some of which were purchased by celebrities such as Dennis Day (an Irish Tenor), Lindsay Wagner, and many others. She had her quilt business until 1993 when Jay retired.
After this, she and Jay spent the next 5 years traveling the world. They went to places such as Great Britian, Russia, Germany and many other European countries. One of her fondest stories to tell, was of the crystal bowl form Czechoslovakia that she had to hand carry in her lap on the long flight home to ensure it didn’t get broke. It made it safe and sound.
Ramona and Jay spent the last 20 years snow-birding in Yuma, Arizona; up until her health no longer permitted them to go.
She held many church positions from Sunday school teacher to Relief Society President.
She has 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that were the light of her life. No matter the day she was having, they never failed to bring a smile to her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, sister-in-law and grandson.
A closed casket viewing will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Little Butte Cemetery in Annis, Idaho.
