Biography

Ray Richins Schofield 89, of Farmington, Utah, passed away peacefully, July 3, 2014 at McKay Dee Hospital.
He was born December 27, 1924 in Evanston, Wyoming, the son of Walter Harry and Morsie Ann Richins Schofield.
Ray was married to Mary Clarie Hess until her death in 2003. He then married Mary Jean Hughes in 2005 who passed away in 2010.
Ray grew up in Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ogden High School. He worked as an aeronautical engineer at Langley Field, Virginia at the beginning of World War II at which time he was drafted. The Army Air Corps trained him as a reconnaissance pilot, navigator and photographer. When the war ended, he entered the field of architecture, which began his passion for organic design and Frank Lloyd Wrights prairie style. Working as a draftsman for architects in the Ogden and Salt Lake area before achieving his professional license as an architect. Having his own studio for many years he joined the LDS architectural department, designing temples. After his retirement he continued to design until his health began to fail. His organic designs of buildings and stained glass were absolutely amazing. He was truly an Architect’s Architect.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his two sons, one daughter, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, UT on Monday, July 7th from 6-7pm with graveside service Tuesday July 8th at 11am at the Farmington City Cemetery.
