Raymond Hooker

Biography

Raymond Warren Hooker, 95, of Arco, Idaho, passed away September 30, 2013, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. He was under the care of his family and OneSource Hospice.
Raymond was born March 18, 1918, in Bluefields, Nicaragua, to Robert Newton Hooker and Florentina Arethusa Taylor Hooker. He grew up and attended schools in Nicaragua and graduated from Moravian College. He also attended LDS Business College and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Raymond served his country as a Seaman in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
On January 16, 1946, he married Violet Burnham in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. To this union was born a daughter, Susan. Raymond and Violet resided in Bountiful, Utah, for 20 years; San Francisco, California, for 13 years; Colorado Springs, Colorado, for eight years; Ogden, Utah, for 21 years; and Arco, Idaho, for the past seven years. Raymond worked as an Executive Accountant for Phillips Petroleum and was a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hooker Tactical Safety & Defense Equipment, Inc.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Secretary to the 70th Quorum of Seventies in Bountiful, Utah, and was their last surviving member. He also served as Young Men’s President and High Priest Group Leader in the Bountiful 17th Ward; on the Stake High Council in San Francisco; as Ward Clerk and Membership Clerk in the South San Francisco Ward; as Finance Clerk in Santa Maria, California; and as a Gospel Doctrine Instructor.
Raymond is survived by his wife and daughter; two grandchildren, Shelli and SeAnne; and 1 great grandchild, Melissa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, one sister, and his granddaughter, Laura.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Russon Brothers Mortuary (295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah). The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary. Burial will be in the Lake View Memorial Cemetery (1640 East Lakeview Dr., Bountiful.)
