1923-2012

RAYMOND ADAM (RAY) LUTZ was born September 13th, 1923 in Rexburg, Idaho to Bernice Oldham Lutz and Adam Asa Lutz. He was raised in Logan, Utah. In Logan he attended Utah State University (then Utah State Agricultural College) where joined Pi Kappa Alpha and became Sophomore Class President. While at Utah State in 1942 he was employed as the chime ringer in “Old Main”. In April 1943, he entered the U.S. Army, serving for three years during World War II in the European theater. Following the war, he served two years in the New England States Mission of the LDS church where he was sent out “without purse or scrip”. After his mission, he attended Indiana University and the University of Utah, participating as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, the Intercollegiate Knights, and Delta Phi. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1950.

Ray and his sweetheart Lois Jaquier were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple on February 4th, 1954. Together they raised four children: Robert Adam (Karen) Lutz, Bountiful; Cynthia Jean (Ron) Harden, Salt Lake; Suzanne (David) Larson, Midway; and Raymond Anthony Lutz, Bountiful. Ray is survived by his wife and children, 13 grandchildren, 6 great granddaughters, and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Jean Brunker.

Ray enjoyed playing the piano from his youth. He became very proficient and played beautifully. He was fond of gardening and building; he could fix anything. Ray loved the Lord and served in many church capacities, dedicated to building up the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He loved family history work and missionary work; he spent many hours studying the scriptures. One of his greatest joys was being called as an ordained worker in the Salt Lake temple for 20 years.

Ray established many friends throughout his long and exceptional life. He was most grateful to his Heavenly Father for his life, family, testimony, and blessings. We will miss you Dad.

Friends and family who wish to express their condolences in person may visit on Sunday, Oct. 7th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Bountiful, Utah. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 8th, 11a.m., at the Salt Lake City Cemetery (gravesite is on 1000E between 330N and 445N).
