Rebecca Dutson finished her almost five-year fight with acute leukemia, with honor and grace, on February 14, 2018.
Rebecca was born on October 5, 1982 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Brent Dutson and Cheryl Whipple Dutson. Her family enjoyed time in Kearns, UT, Centerville, UT, then moved to Hyde Park, UT when she was 15 years old.
After she graduated from Sky View High School she attended Utah State University. She served a full-time LDS mission in Nashville, Tennessee. After returning home, she completed her degree at Utah State University in Elementary Education. She taught 1st and 3rd grades in St. George, UT then moved to Provo and taught 3rd and 5th grades. Her love and dedication to her students was always a priority.
Rebecca had a motto that she lived by: "Live as if you are going to live". It was all about people and relationships to her. Rebecca loved the outdoors and enjoyed travelling around the world. She had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the power and reality of the Atonement. She touched many lives and her presence will be felt by many for years to come.
She is survived by her parents Brent and Cheryl Dutson; her siblings, Daniel (Molly), Jacob (BreAnna), Bradley (BreAnne), and Carrie; a treasured aunt to three nephews and one niece. She is also survived by her grandpa William Dutson, and her grandma Dianne Whipple. She is also loved and will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandpa Blaine Whipple, her grandma Faun Dutson, and her uncle Kevin Dutson.
Funeral services are under the direction of Russon Mortuary and will take place on Monday February 19th at noon in the Hyde Park Stake Center located at 535 East 200 South, where a viewing will be held Sunday February 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 am, also at the Hyde Park Stake Center.
