Rebecca (Becky) Ann Thornock Searle went to her home in heaven and into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her loved ones there.
I was born May 28, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. My parents were Wilford Myron and Jane Critchlow Thornock. I was preceded in death by my parents, my son Ross Romander, three brothers and four sisters, as well as my husbands Bob Vandenberg and Archie Searle.
I attended Ogden City schools and was a twirler in Jr. High.
I married Paul Romander in 1948, and had four wonderful children. We later divorced. I married
Bob Vandenberg in 1974. Our marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He died in 1997. I later married my high school sweetheart, Archie Searle and he died in 2003.
I loved many varieties of music. I loved to read and I loved the beauty of nature, especially spring and fall. I also loved looking at rainbows and beautiful blue skies with contrasting white clouds.
I always had the feeling of peace within me, even during the hills and valleys of life. I disliked anger and unkindness.
I attended the West Bountiful 1st Ward. I was the coordinating supervisor in the Relief Society and I have also been a visiting teacher supervisor for many years.
I enjoyed going to the temple with my dear friends. I loved and enjoyed my friends and neighbors who were there all along with my family to care for my every need.
I treasured the life and memories of each one of my children and family. Throughout the years, they have been there to not only help me, but to give me loving care. I loved being your mother and grandmother.
My surviving children are: Mark Romander, Rod (Patti) Romander, Patty Romander, Terry Cirillo and step-daughter Karlene (Nestor) Zuluaga. I also have twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. One sister, Ruth (Theo) Maisey, two sisters in law: Shirley Thornock and Donna Thornock.
Mom, you have been the finest role model of true charity in life through your example. We love you, we miss you and we will always honor you.
PS: We look forward to your promised visits from time to time.
