Reid Rudolph Wuthrich

November 27, 1941 — September 10, 2017

Reid Rudolph Wuthrich passed away September 10th 2017 right where he wanted to be – at home with his sweetheart and children close.
Reid was born on November 27th 1941 to Rudy and Irene Wuthrich. He was the third of eight children and the wise older brother, earning him the nickname “Woody” by all of his siblings. (Truthfully, all us kids were well into teen years before we figured out these affectionate nicknames were not the real names of our aunts and uncles) i.e., Jo, Gink, (Woody), Grizz, Weasel, Archie, Tina and Sue.
Dad’s childhood home was in Logan, but with his Dad and brothers logging, hunting, fishing and the greenhouses… well, he pretty much grew-up all over Cache Valley.  He graduated from Logan High School in 1959.
Dad was lucky enough (and clever enough) to meet the girl of his dreams in seminary sophomore year. He was married and sealed to DeLona Barrett on June 6th 1963 in the Logan temple.
After living a year in Logan and a year in Roy, Dad and Mom chose to settle down and raise their children and start their business in Bountiful in 1965. Thus was the beginning of Wuthrich’s Center Street Greenhouses and many other greenhouse endeavors. We cannot count the number of friendships and lives shaped and influenced throughout all the years with the greenhouses. We know Dad cherished each and every one of you!
Dad was grateful every day for the gospel and was a true disciple and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad served in many church callings and instilled in his children that there is no calling that we cannot learn from and that there is no end to serving.
Our Dad had the best green thumb there ever was, but his true joy and love was in raising and growing 10 fantastic children; who then married 10 more fantastic children; who in turn brought about 51 of the most wonderful grandchildren ever; which of course led to the 11 most adorable great-grandchildren ever to be grown! Dad has officially retired from the greenhouse biz, but this beautiful family garden is still growing and flourishing. All of us will be missing him terribly. Dad (Grandpa) never just said, “I love you.” He would say, “I love you 10!”
Reid was preceded in death by his father, mother, his brother David and brother in-law Merrill Brown.
Reid is survived by his wife Delona Barrett Wuthrich and children: Benjamin (Therese) Wuthrich, Gregory (Maria) Wuthrich, Randall (Joann) Wuthrich, Andrew (Janeal) Wuthrich, Amanda (Greg) Hansen, Emily (Robert) Gwynn, Matthew (Eugenia) Wuthrich, Deborah (Anthony) Ferrin, Jeanine (David) Sargent, Nathan (Sandra) Wuthrich, 51 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Bountiful 26th Ward, 200 North 200 West. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Saturday morning 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
