Rhea Moss Wray (84) beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Rhea was born on May 8, 1933 in Ririe, Idaho to John and Zelma Moss. She was the 6th child in a family of 7 children. She loved to sing and performed in many musical groups while attending Ririe High School. It was there that she met her sweetheart Gerald N Wray, “Jerry”.
She attended Ricks College and Utah State University graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Home Economics Education. She taught school at Farrer Junior High in Provo, Utah. She would later use her Home Economic skills to bless her family. She was the ultimate homemaker.
She married Gerald Wray in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 1, 1958. They lived in Brigham City before settling in Bountiful where they had their home for nearly 50 years. They raised a family of seven children as well as one Native American foster son.
Rhea loved being a Mother. She taught her children the importance of education and hard work. She loved music and instilled a love of music in each of her children. She was a great cook, seamstress, gardener, and could feed a family of 10 on a tight budget. She was creative and fun and built a home full of love.
Service to her Heavenly Father was always a priority. As a young woman she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the U.S. Central States. She served alongside her husband as he presided over the California Sacramento Mission. Later they served as senior missionaries in Sendai, Japan. Rhea held many callings in the LDS church such as Primary Chorister, Young Women’s leader and Relief Society President. She gave her very best to whatever calling she received.
Rhea was an elect lady who lived an exemplary life and was a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by two siblings, Reed (Elizabeth) Moss, and Ruth Johnson; her seven children, Jan (Stephen) Story; Grover (Lesley); Lori (Clyde) Johnson; Lisa (Michael) Shurtz; Stacie (Troy) Hansen; Richard (Lucy); John (Kristen). She is a proud grandmother of 33 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way.
Rhea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 Sisters (Lael & Helen) and 2 Brothers (Merlin & Joel).
