Richard Carl Balderston, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and good friend, passed away January 26th, 2023 succumbing to health issues.

Rick was Born February 3rd 1965 in Salt Lake City Utah to Richard and Karren Balderston.  Growing up in Bountiful, Rick was a vibrant force of a great neighborhood full of fun and adventure.  Water fights, Front yard football, and baseball at the school were top priority.

Rick attended Bountiful High School and was by all accounts a good athlete.  He excelled at both football and Baseball.  He was magnetic, surrounding himself with great friends, and being a good friend in return.  Rick also attended both Utah State University as well as Dixie College.

While attending Utah State, Rick met and later married Shelly Gunther on  August 2nd, 1986.  The two of them have three beautiful children together.  Rick and Shelly worked tirelessly to provide the best life for their children.  Rick has three grandchildren and nothing made him happier than creating great times with the little ones.

Ricks work life was centered around the School Foodservice Industry.  He spent time working at Sysco Foods, time working with his Dad in the Foodservice Brokerage Business, and was the owner of a School Foodservice Chemical Supply and Training Company at the time of his passing.

Rick had a zest for life.  He enjoyed boating, Riding his Harley, Golf, traveling, and the Utes.  The family cabin which he help build some 40 years ago, was Rick’s happy place.  Knowhere was he more at peace.  In the end, what Rick loved more than anything was being involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.   A ballgame or recital was rarely missed.

Rick is Survived by his wife Shelly, Daughter Brandi (Nick) Moore, Son Brek (Sarah) Balderston, daughter Breanne (Samuel) Peery, Grandchildren Ian, Elliot, and Ozzy, Parents Richard and Karren Balderston, Brother Brett (Jann) Balderston, and  Sister Cindy (Lance) Barraclough.
