Richard Stuart Barton

In loving memory of Richard Stuart Barton, a cherished Son, Brother, Father, Grandpa, Uncle, and Friend, who gracefully rode off in his sleigh on December 26th, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of his family.

Richard's journey began with a love story that spanned a lifetime. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he met the love of his life Pamela W., and on June 16th, 1966, they sealed their union in the temple.

Born to Agnes Ryan and Edgar Barnes Barton in SLC, Richard dedicated his entire life to the grocery business. From Associated Foods to Fleming Foods and Mancini, his passion for the industry was unwavering, leading him to work until the challenges brought by COVID.

A playful jokester, Richard brought joy as the one and only Santa for an incredible 45 years. He found immense pleasure in caring for his yard and garden and took pride in his gun and book collection, reflecting his diverse interests.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Pamela Barton, and his legacy lives on through his children: Wendy (Dave) Robinson, Traci (Lynn) Sheffield, Shanda Black, Todd (Zabrina) Barton, and Britany (Chris) Padilla. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of 17 Grandkids and 24 Great Grandkids, a testament to the love he cultivated within his family.

He is also survived by his siblings: Tammy (Neil) Knight, Ralph (Sharlene) Barton, and Jim (Yvonne) Barton. However, he is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Barnes and Agnes Ryan Barton, and two brothers, Joel Barton and Stephen Barton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 12:30 - 1:45 p.m., prior to services. 

These moments will offer family and friends the opportunity to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable life of Richard Stuart Barton.
