Richard "Dick" Paul Walker, Jr.

July 12, 1935 — June 13, 2018

Richard Paul (Dick) Walker, Jr. was born July 12, 1935 in Meeker, Colorado to Richard Paul and Myrtle Thompson Walker. He was raised mostly on ranches in the Meeker area. His family moved to Park City, Utah, where he married his high school sweetheart, Muriel McBride. After her death he married Lorie Ann Low Holbrook, to whom he has been married ever since. While living in Park City he was a founding officer of the Summit County Sheriff’s Patrol where he learned emergency medical care to help with search and rescue operations.  He worked in commercial construction as a sheet metal worker, then as an Air and Water Balance Technician. He was also an active adult leader in the Boy Scouts. He loved the beauty of the western states. He read widely and became an amateur geologist. Pursuing this, he became an avid rock hound and shaped what he found by polishing and faceting the treasures of the earth into beautiful jewelry. On his travels he found interesting shaped branches and roots and polished them into coveted walking sticks. He also adorned his home with and gave gifts of fine woodwork. He was always eager to share and a willing friend to all he met. His greatest legacy is his large and loving family with four children, four step children, eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, with two more coming soon.  Dick asked that viewing be limited to family and close friends, that we hold no funeral and only a simple graveside service. Out of respect for him, we are complying with those wishes.  We are very aware and thoughtful of his many friends and his family would be honored to meet his many friends at a visitation at the Bountiful Shadows Ward chapel, 1476 N 300 West, Bountiful, Utah from 10:00 am to noon, Saturday, June 23. The graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm that afternoon at the Park City Cemetery in Park City, Utah.
