Richard Duane Belnap

December 5, 1935 — August 19, 2016

Richard Duane Belnap passed away on August 19th. He was born December 5th, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Lovel and Lilly Belnap. He graduated from Ogden High School and BYU with a BS in Math and Engineering. In 1968 he was certified as a Professional Mechanical Engineer.

He married Rose Ann Kelly September 16th,1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with eight children, Laurie Kay (Dirk), Julie Ann (Jack), Wendy Lee (Ron), Kelly Lynn (Irv), Richard Dwane (Karen), Suzanne, Christine (John) and Hollie Jean (Matt), 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He worked for Hercules/Alliant aerospace for 43 years. He was an avid Scouter, and earned the Silver Beaver award. In 1997 he was recognized for his 50 years of service. He also served as a district commissioner in the Great Salt Lake Council. He was an avid family researcher and found many records of deceased ancestors. He served as president of the Belnap family organization.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose Ann, his 2 sisters, Dorothy and Madeline Elda, and his brother, Vinson as well as his daughter Suzanne. We wish to express our deep appreciation to the friends and staff of OakRidge Assisted Living and A Step Forward-Hospice.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, UT. Family condolences may be expressed 30 min. prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Road House.
