Richard Giles

July 7, 1947 — August 15, 2014

Biography

Richard Stephen Giles has passed from the pains of this life to a far better place. He died August 15, 2014 while at home with his sweetheart Kimberly by his side. Even though he will be greatly missed by those who loved him, there is peaceful solace in knowing he is free from the years of illness that weighed so heavily upon him.

Rick and Kimberly fought Rick’s battles together when they married July 7, 1997. Their bond was further solidified when they were later sealed for time and eternity in the Bountiful Utah Temple. If Rick had a second love it was his 1930 Model A Coupe. His car was not only a hit in the neighborhood and city parades, it was also admired by other hot rod enthusiasts at shows around the state. Rick had a remarkable talent for building, fixing, and creating almost anything. He took great pride in what he did, frequently working with Kimberly by his side and often calling her “my little grease monkey.”

Other than spending time with family, Rick loved to go fishing, hunting, and camping.

Rick was a printer by trade – a vocation he learned at Giles Press while working by the side of his father in the family business. He had a strong desire to serve his country and enlisted in the Army from which he received an Honorable discharge.

Rick was born July 7, 1947 to Esther Lucille Vigos and Richard Glen Giles who, along with his sister Sheryl, have both preceded him in death. Rick is survived by his wife, and beloved companion, Kimberly; his sisters Debbie (Steve) and Wendy (Brett); his children Rachelle (Ray), Herb (Tonya), Rachell (Jeff), Scott (Faira), and Shari; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express grateful thanks to the Hospice workers who gave their love and support the last days of Rick’s life.

The funeral will be held August 20, 2014 at 11:00am, Kaysville West Stake Center, 270 West Burton Lane, Kaysville, Utah. The only viewing will be held that same morning, one hour prior to the family prayer, from 9:30am to 10:30am. Interment in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
