Richard James Bunderson – beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and humble servant of the Lord passed away at his home on August 15th, at the age of 74 from Parkinson’s disease. He often referred to himself as “an ordinary man,” but he lived an extraordinary life. He was born on September 30, 1941 in Bennington, Idaho to Ben Rich and Lillis Bee Bunderson. He was an enthusiastic Eagle Scout who exemplified deep love for God, country and family. As a young man, he served a mission to the British Isles. They are the parents of three wonderful children: Cherie Cloninger (Dave), Andrea Merritt (Eric), Richard W. (Rebecca). As an educator by profession, he was a master teacher (recipient of the Huntsman Award) with a deep love for learning and sharing knowledge, especially of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He studied at Utah State University and continued his education at the University of Utah, receiving a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called as bishop to the Centerville Seventh Ward at age 36, and his life has been devoted to Church service. He was a consummate gentleman and touched many lives for good. He will be remembered for his great love for his wife and family and untiring service to his fellowman, leadership, and his pure love of Christ.
