Richard John Park

April 29, 1925 — September 24, 2013

After a long and productive life of service, Dick passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the age of 88 after succumbing to the effect’s of Alzheimer’s.
Born April 29, 1925 in Quincy, Massachusetts, Richard John Park was the baby of the family with three older brothers. His early years were spent hiking and camping in the back woods of Massachusetts where he, his father, and brothers were active scouters.
He joined the Army Air Corps in WWII. He was a B-24 Bomber pilot. He graduated from Northeastern University as a mechanical engineer. He spent his working years as an engineer, working on cutting edge nuclear technology for the US Government and later for Kenway Engineering in Bountiful.
On a business trip to Utah he met Sandra Rytting in the coffee shop at the Hotel Utah. He asked her to share a newspaper and they ended up sharing 41 years together. They were married in Salt Lake City on November 6, 1953. They have 5 children.
Sandy died of cancer in 1994. As a temple worker Dick met, courted and married Marie Child on October 12, 1996.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Rytting Park and baby child Richard Park. He is survived by his second wife Marie Child Park and his children: Steven Park (Lorna Fish), Kathryn Craven (Gerald), Susan Jensen (Larry), David Park (Margie Sorensen) and Karen Park. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He is loved and admired by the Child family, Marie, her 4 children, 19 grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He will always be remembered as a gentle soul who showed his love for others, and his Savior Jesus Christ, through his selfless acts of service.
