Bountiful, Utah – Surrounded by his loving family, our wonderful father passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 88. Born on July 22, 1927, to Rosamond Mary Brown and James Woodard Henderson in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He grew up in SLC and attended West High School. He lost his father at the young age of 20 years old. He served in the Merchant Marines after World War II traveling all over the world. He married the love of his life, Jackie Kay Whitesides on October 8, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was employed with Metropolitan Life Insurance for over 40 years. He served a mission with his eternal companion to the Stockton California, Cambodian-speaking mission in 1990. He was a patient, loving husband and caring father of five children. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family in the outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved golfing with his buddies. He knew so many people through his employment and enjoyed meeting with them and associating with their families. He loved everyone he came in contact with. He loved nicknames and if you knew him, you probably had one. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a kind and caring neighbor, friend, brother, father, always watching over those who might need help. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in all of his callings. He lived an honorable life, and was truly a disciple of our Savior. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie, and children Terry (Deanne) Henderson, (John) and Debbie Koew, (Rob) and Leslie Moosman, Curtis and (Sandra) Henderson, and son in law, Tim L. Kidder, brother Paul (Karen) Henderson, 27 grandchildren, and 55 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan K. Kidder, parents, brother and sister, and three great granddaughters Danielle and Kaylee Brady, and Reagan Jensen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Val Verda LDS Stake Center located at 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful Utah. Friends and family may visit Monday, between the hours of 6pm – 8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Bountiful, Utah or Tuesday morning prior to the funeral from 9:30 am-10:30 am. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
