Richard Stebbing

Biography

Richard Ernest Stebbing passed away December 12, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born August 3, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Elwynne Stebbing and Jane Scott.

He married Kathleen Gaye Evans (deceased) on August 21, 1959, Salt Lake Temple. On May 19, 2001 he married Betty Simmons in the Salt Lake Temple and they shared 13 wonderful years together.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the California, Northern Mission, was a graduate of BYU and served in various church callings including service as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Professionally he worked in the Personnel Dept. for the State of Utah. He served in the US Army Reserves and attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

His greatest loves were his family, missionary and genealogy work.

He was preceded in death by his brothers William and Donald Stebbing and step-son Steve Simmons. He is survived by his brother Robert Stebbing and sister Phyllis Garcia, his 3 children Kerry (Paul) Cowley, Randy (Debbie) Stebbing, and Robin (Dan) Neville; his wife Betty and her children Julie (Don) Beard, Kennie Sue (Mike) Hansen, Scott (Blynn) Simmons, Kathy (Dan) Murphy, and Angela Simmons; 29 grandchildren and 12 g-grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and caring for Betty’s daughter Angela.

He was a compassionate, loving person who will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., at the North Canyon 7th Ward, 3350 South 100 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-SLC Cemetery.
