Richard Thorn Wells

May 31, 1916 — September 18, 2015

Richard Thorn Wells died September 18, 2015, just months short of his 100th birthday.  He was born May 31,1916, in Lehi, Utah, to Samuel Lorenzo Wells and Mabel Grace White Thorn. He spent his childhood in Lehi and later attended Utah State University before starting his career with American Oil. He married Agnes Naomi Peterson on August 14, 1942.  They were married 57 years before her passing, and are the parents of three children, Richard Keith (Christine), Steven, and JoAnn Hinckley (John). Family was always the most important thing in his life and he supported and blessed them in every way, including contributing to their college educations for his 7 grandchildren,  Annie Clark (Andrew), Mary Hawkins (Jon), Richard Wells (Megan,) Maren Muhelstein (Joseph), Kathy Moore (Colin), Thomas Wells (Jessica), and Jeff Hinckley. He had already started college funds for his 19 great-grandchildren.  He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and seldom missed his meetings.  He fulfilled all of his callings, including being ward clerk to then-Bishop Thomas S. Monson.  He was preceded in death by his wife (Naomi), 2 sisters (Grace and Claire), and a brother (Allen).

Graveside services will be held on September 21, 2015, in the Salt Lake Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
