Rickie Lawrence Miller
1952 ~ 2021
Rickie Lawrence Miller died on January 12, 2021 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born July 18,1952 to Daniel Lawrence Miller and Maretta Jane Higgs Miller. He grew up in Farmington and loved living in a close-knit community. He always had a story to share about Farmington. He was sealed to Jolin Jones in January of 1975 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Rick was an avid sportsman. He loved participating in sports and watching them. He played baseball, basketball, football, he swam and he lived to golf. In his later years, retirement afforded him the time to travel and golf, which he and Jolin did as much as possible, taking his clubs with him whenever he traveled to see his children and grandchildren.
He worked in sales with a focus in home appliances. He worked for RC Willey for 20 years and then moved on to work as a sales rep for GE Appliances for another 20+ years. He fielded many phone calls to repair appliance problems near and far and was always able to help.
He chose to be involved in his community, and served a term as Mayor of Fruit Heights. His favorite experience while being Mayor was participating in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the California mission. He shared many stories from his mission and looked on that time with great fondness. He also served in the Utah Ogden mission with Jolin. He loved getting to know all the missionaries and spoiling them while they were away from home. He served in many capacities over the years and enjoyed the opportunity to get to know so many wonderful people.
Rick was a people person. You could not go out in public with him without him running into someone he knew or making a new friend. Rick was always accepting of people however they were. He was a believer in hard work. He taught by example and he never let the difficulty or enormity of a task deter him. He had the ability to draw in the Spirit and help others to see their worth and potential. He drew great strength from the hymns and sacred music clear to the end.
Rick is survived by his wife, Jolin and their children; Ryan (Nacole), Melanie (Kelly), Braden (Amy) and Karissa (Justin); and 11 grandchildren who brought so much joy to his life. He knew that family is what mattered most!
In lieu of flowers, please do something for those you love!
