Rita Louise Pessetto Judd, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Creekside Senior Living Facility in Bountiful, Utah on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Rita was born in Helper, Utah on June 13, 1933 to Peter Paul Pessetto and Adeline Lange. She was an only child, and her father passed away when she was three years old. She spent her childhood in Helper, Utah where her mother worked as a nurse. She was raised with the help of her Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe as well as her Grandmother Lange. She graduated from Carbon High School in 1951 and enjoyed being a Carbon Dinosaur. Rita followed in the footsteps of her mother and graduated from the Holy Cross School of Nursing in 1954 as a Registered Nurse.
In 1954, Rita met the love of her life David Dwight Judd, a World War II and Korean War veteran, through mutual friends. David called her an Italian beauty from Carbon County. They eloped to Elko, Nevada in 1954 and were later sealed to their two children in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1976. Rita and David were married for 63 years. They spent a few years in California but returned to Utah to raise their children.
Rita had many nursing opportunities throughout the years. A few of the hospitals she worked at included Holy Cross Hospital, Shriners Hospital and South Davis Hospital. She mostly enjoyed her time working in short stay surgery. She also worked on the med-tech floors and in the pharmacy. She retired after 30 years of lovingly caring for others.
Rita was a converted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in various capacities in her local ward. Rita and David also served at the Humanitarian Center for the church. She supported her husband while they served in the Barton Creek Inn Branch Presidency.
Rita enjoyed playing golf with a group of neighborhood friends for many years. She loved her time on the golf course. She was a member of the Femme de Lettres Book Club for more than 50 years. A group of 30 women made a commitment to meet each month and study local and global arts and history. She was also a member of a bridge club for many years. Her hobbies included reading, swimming, crafts, and watching movies (especially James Bond 007).
While Rita excelled in her professional and personal endeavors, her family was the most important part of her life. She was a great support and had a deep love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She cherished her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very present and invested in every aspect of their lives. Rita’s memory will be kept alive by her son Paul (Jan) Judd and daughter Juliann (Bob) Gibson; grandchildren Nicole (Quinton) Green, Steven (Olivia) Gibson, David Judd, Jennifer (Treg) Corbridge, and Danny Judd; great grandchildren Carter and Madison Green and Brooks Corbridge.
