Robert Abner Freeman, 81, West Valley City, passed away on December 6th 2021. Bob was born on January 27th 1940 in Sturgis, South Dakota. Bob married Cleda, the love of his life on November 15th 1958 in Bountiful, Utah. They finally found themselves in West Valley City, Utah where they continued to raise their family and spend 63 years happily married. He is survived by his wife (Cleda), children: Gary, Jesse (Jo), Robert (Johnna), Dottie (Jeff), Brenda (David), his brothers: Walt (Bonnie), Vernon (Marilyn), 20 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons: Mark and Scott and siblings: Jim, Carl, Gordon, Melva and Maxine.
“Buckwheat” lived his life as a master of many trades and everyone that knew him learned something for better or worse. Bob was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and singer of the great hits: “Walkin in the Park After Dark” and “It Aint Gonna Rain no More”. He was also a veteran of the US Army where he spent time as a head cook over his years of service. Bob’s infectious laughter, quick whit and extremely gentle temperament will be missed more as the days move on. Dad’s last shout out, “When Buckwheat’s up, everybody’s up”.
Viewings will be held on Monday December 13th, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday December 14th, 2021 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT 84010. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 14th, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial services will be directly after the funeral at Bountiful Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, UT 84010.
