Robert Albertelli

Robert William Albertelli, beloved by all, both family and friends, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons Disease and its many devastating complications on Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Bob was born on July 2, 1937 in Jamaica, Queens, New York to Bruno Joseph and Catherine Saehr Albertelli.  Much of his childhood was spent in the Long Island town of Floral Park.  He was an avid New York Yankees fan and was blessed to grow up in an era when the Yankees were regular World Series champions.  He spent many days in the old Yankee Stadium watching his heroes.  His father worked for Babe Ruth and collected many old time baseball artifacts that he gave to Bob.  This collection has been added to over the years with others of Bob's favorite players.  He was raised by his immediate and extended family to value education.  With that in mind, he put himself through a private high school and Manhattan College, earning a degree in Civil Engineering.  He was the first college graduate in his family and he passed on the great worth he placed in knowledge to his own family.  He chose Civil Engineering as a result of working in construction with his father.  He saw the engineers at construction sites and knew he would prefer that job to pulling huge loads of bricks up several floors.

Following graduation, he left New York and headed to California.  During his initial years of employment, he was sent to a number of small islands in the Pacific Ocean, working on projects for the Federal Government.  He was involved in atomic technology and was a personal witness to over a dozen nuclear detonations.  Eventually, work led him to Las Vegas, Nevada where he met and married Karen Marie Johnson Albertelli.  His career continued to take them to various locations including California, Scotland and New Mexico.  He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1977.  He was a faithful Elder and High Priest and set an example of hard work and perseverence in righteousness for all to see.  He was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease at the age of 56, dramatically altering his life plans.  He retired at 60 years old and he and Karen left California, settling first in Boulder City, Nevada and later in North Salt Lake, Utah.

Bob is survived by his wife, Karen; children Jill (John) Armknecht, Robert (Angela), Stephen; 10 grandchildren; brothers George (Judith) and John; sisters Rita Roberts and Mary Szahazc.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Catherine, and by his brother, Ed.

A viewing will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main St. Bountiful, Utah, from 6-8 PM. There will also be a viewing on Saturday January 13, 2018 from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Foxhill Ward, 200 S. Eagleridge Dr. North Salt Lake, UT.  Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
