Robert Anderson

Biography

Robert Shirl Anderson was born on Christmas Day 1936, much to the joy of his mother, Verna Christensen, and his father, Shirl Robert Anderson. He died August 5, 2012, much to the sorrow of his family and friends. Bob spent the first five years of his life in Brigham City and the following 70 years in Bountiful. He attended Stoker Elementary School, the “old” South Davis Junior High, Bountiful High School (for two years), and graduated from Davis High School in 1955, where he was a senior class officer. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California from 1957-1959. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1961. He taught English at the “new” South Davis Junior High for ten years, then at Woods Cross High for 26 years. He loved teaching, and he loved his students.

Bob married DeAnn Robins on September 2, 1960, and they had four wonderful children together: Robyn, Blake, Brady, and Brooke, 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Bob spent his life serving in various positions in the LDS Church-as a gospel doctrine teacher for many years, a high councilor, bishop of the Woods Cross 3rd Ward, a member of the Woods Cross Stake Presidency, a temple worker at the Bountiful Temple, and most recently as a host missionary at the LDS Conference Center.

Bob loved to read (especially history), watch sports (especially those involving children and grandchildren), and have fun with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, DeAnn; his children, Robyn (Kendall) Hutchinson, Blake (Karen) Anderson, Brady (Alicia) Anderson, Brooke (Steve) Bain; grandchildren and great- grandchild; and his sister, Susan Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Woods Cross 3rd Ward Chapel, 1450 South 350 West, Bountiful. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Thursday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Lakeview Cemetery.
