Robert "Bob" Perry Cason

September 17, 1943 — May 4, 2015

Robert 'Bob' Perry Cason was born in Condon, Oregon on September 17, 1943.  The youngest of 3 children born to Virgil and Muriel Cason,  he was active in sports and was a very bright student.  Often, he would have the answers to the questions before the teachers would finish asking them.

Bob converted to the LDS faith in early adulthood, and remained active throughout his life.  He graduated from BYU with a bachelor in business administration.  At BYU, he fell in love with and married Betsy Sonnichsen.  They had a baby daughter named Anne.  Tragically, both Betsy and Anne died in a car accident shortly after her birth.  While still at BYU, he married Carol Buckingham and they had 4 sons, Robert Jr., Jonathan, Jared, and Mark.  They later divorced, and Bob married Kayla Moss, taking an active step-father role of her daughter, Miriam.  They had many happy years together, and she stood by him until the end.  Bob was a loving husband and father who had a strong moral compass and taught them all to do the right thing.

He had a successful career as a computer programmer where he worked for multiple companies.  His most fulfilling was with the Church in the genealogy department.  This was a fusion of his passions for his faith and his love of computers.  He helped forward the Church's genealogy work by doing something he loved.

Bob was known for his humor, and always had a punny joke at the ready.  His strong intellect and sense of humor made for a powerful combination.  Bob loved his family, the Church, fishing, logic problems, and things that challenged his mind.  He loved playing card games, known affectionately as the 'Spade Shark' to his family.

Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 4th, after battling numerous health issues.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Muriel, his brother Bill, sister Jeanne White, his wife and daughter Betsy and Anne, and his step-daughter Lisa Vest-Berg. He is survived by his wife, Kayla E. Cason, his sons, Robert, Jonathan, Jared, and Mark, and his step-children Kelly Neish, David Vest, Matthew Wells, and Miriam Peterson.

Graveside service will be held at Bountiful City Cemetery (2224 S 200 W) on Saturday May 9th at 10:00 am.  Memorial to follow the service.
