Robert "Bud" Paul

Robert (Bud) Hobson Paul passed away peacefully in his home on July 14, 2011 surrounded by his family. Bud was born in Logan, UT on February 2, 1930 to Robert Lonnie and Alice Hobson Paul. He was the long awaited baby brother to 3 adoring older sisters. Bud was an incredibly hard worker throughout his life. During his youth, Bud was involved in the Scouting program and received his Eagle Scout Award. He also worked several jobs including mowing and watering the lawn at Utah State Agricultural College, where he would later attend school on an athletic scholarship for both football and baseball. Bud served his Country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Navy for two years, prior to being honorably discharged. After college, Bud played semi-professional baseball for the Brigham City Peaches. On July 28, 1952 Bud married his sweetheart LaRue Satterthwaite, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised a family and celebrated 59 years together. Bud was a dedicated husband and father who took great pride in providing for his family. He spent over 40 years working in the Concrete Products business eventually working his way to the position of President & COO of Amcor, Inc. In addition to being a hard worker Bud also played hard. He loved snow skiing, water skiing, golf, baseball and the Utah Jazz. He also loved mucking about at his cabin on Hebgen Lake. He was actively involved in his church, community and served on many different boards and committees during his lifetime. Preceded in death by his parents Robert Lonnie Paul, Alice Hobson Paul, his two older sisters Marjorie (Raymond) Payne, Roberta (Chot) Rothwell. Bud is survived by his wife LaRue Paul, children Robert Bradford (Mary) Paul, Denise (Steve) Cleverley, Deloy (Karrie Jo) Paul, Michelle (Von) Wood, Bryan (Andrea) Paul, Alyson (George) Deussen as well as 27 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, older sister Betsy (Tom) Matthews and special family friend Robin (Al) Taffett. He was loved by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Thank you to all those who loved and supported Bud throughout his life. A special thanks to Jennifer, Buds hospice nurse, for the peace you brought our family. Grandpa, Dad, Friend and Sweetheart, thank you for all you taught us, you were an incredible man who will be missed dearly. Those who would like to visit the Family may come to Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, UT. from 6:30 -8:30 on Sunday July 17th. Services to be held Monday July 18th at 11:00 at the Mueller Park Stake Center, 1800 East Mueller Park Rd., Bountiful, with a visitation from 10:00 10:45 prior. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund.
