Robert Burton Field

April 15, 1948 — February 4, 2020

Robert Burton Field, 71, passed away February 4, 2020 at home in Idaho Falls surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 15, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edward and Kathryn Burton. He was the fifth of six children. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated Bountiful High School in 1966. He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western States Mission. After his mission, he returned home and married Marilyn Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple on September 5, 1969. Together they had six children.  They later divorced.

He had a great passion for education and was continuously learning.  He held an associate's degree in automotive engineering, a bachelor's degree in science and math education from Brigham Young University, and a master's degree in instructional technology from Utah State University. He was also a licensed general contractor.

On December 22, 1988, he married R'Lee Susan Lindsey in the Jordan River Temple and gained four additional children.  Together they had two more boys.  At that time, they moved to West Bountiful, Utah where they lived for 30 years. In 2018, they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho which he also loved.

Robert worked hard whether it was working on cars, building houses, or teaching for the Granite School District.  He held many church callings: Elders Quorum President, Branch President for Avalon Care Center, and Executive Secretary. He helped with the Family to Family Book of Mormon Program and traveled around to teach how to strengthen families and share testimonies using The Book of Mormon.  He gained a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon because of his experiences and loved to share his testimony with all. After he retired, he was able to serve a mission in Cove Fort, Utah with his wife R'Lee. He loved to serve the Lord and served many years as a temple worker.

Robert will be remembered for his very animated story-telling abilities, his loving nature and sense of humor, playing Malaguena on the piano, always being Mr. Fix-it, and playing with his grandchildren.  He never let an opportunity go by to share his love of the Gospel. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. We will miss you, Papa.

He is survived by his wife, R'Lee, of Idaho Falls; his children Jannah Hancock, Magnolia TX; Kerry Brotherton (Kevin) Idaho Falls; Jeanette Field, Taylorsville; Matt Kesler (Michelle) Santaquin; Laura Watson, North Salt Lake; Kelli Hartfield (Andy), Idaho Falls; Krista Beattie (Josh), Idaho Falls; Brian, Apatchee Junction AZ; Suzanne Butler (Joseph) Idaho Falls; Brady, Converse, TX; Tyson (Rachel) Kaysville; Robert (Aubrey) Idaho Falls; 28 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one sister and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the care teams at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their loving care of our husband, father, and grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 8, 2020 in the West Bountiful 7th Ward building, 311 N 800 West, West Bountiful, Utah.
