Robert Earl Huntington, kind and patient husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather graduated from his earthly life with highest honors, September 6, 2015. He began his quest in Salt Lake City on April 19, 1935 with parents Warren Huntington and Enid Gottfredson Huntington. His growing years were spent in the avenues. He attended West High School where he met his future wife, Sheila George. They were married May 14, 1954 and were blessed with seven children, 33 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren. He became a Salt Lake City firefighter in 1957 and retired with the rank of captain after 30 years of service. Bob loved family gatherings, hunting, fishing and travel trailering. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as counselor in two separate bishoprics, High Counselor, and Scoutmaster. He served a mission with Sheila to the Birmingham, Alabama Mission 1998-2000. He also enjoyed his service in the Salt Lake temple and serving with Sheila at the Bountiful temple. He will be greatly missed but we know he is pursuing and enjoying a higher education.
Survived by wife, Sheila; children; Laurie (Lance) Ridges; Jill (Randy) Tolman; Kerry (Marilyn) Huntington; Michael (Sallie) Huntington; Mark (LuAnne) Huntington; Lisa (Russ) Robinson and Brooke (Paul) Bruderer; brother, Warren; sister, Susan (Wayne) Garner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., September 12, 2015 at the Porter Lane Chapel, 435 West 400 South, Centerville. Friends and family may visit Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday at the church prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
