Robert Eugene Elwood, 55, returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 6, 2015. Bob was born October 27, 1959 in Logan, UT, the fifth of five children to R. Eugene Elwood and Frances Jean Christiansen Elwood. He served an LDS mission in Geneva, Switzerland from 1979-1981. He married his best friend and sweetheart, Teresa Anne Purles, on June 23,1986 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Bob earned a Bachelors Degree in Health Administration from the University of Utah, and remained an avid Ute fan throughout his life. He worked many years for IHC and Woodbury Corp. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed serving in various callings. He had a strong testimony of his Savior and Redeemer.
A pilot at heart, Bob loved aviation and would often take his family on picnics to watch airplanes take off. He had a strong baritone voice and loved singing in choirs and listening to music.
To many, he was known as “a gentle giant.” He always shared his love and his heart to any who were in need. Bob’s kindness, thoughtfulness, and contagious laughter will be missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, R. Eugene Elwood and Frances Jean Christiansen Elwood; and by his sister, Susan Kay Elwood Bybee.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Anne Purles Elwood; his children, Melanie Anne Elwood Jeppsen (Kristopher), Brendon Robert Elwood, and Troy William Elwood; his two grandsons, Jaden David Pollard and Landon Kristopher Jeppsen; and his sisters, Patricia Ann Sargent (Morris), Mary Frances Toone (William), and Joan K. Dahl (Curt).
