Our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Robert B. Forsgren passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on December 26th at the age of 97.
Bob was born May 19, 1922 in Brigham City, Utah in a small frame home, delivered by a mid-wife. He was the 5th of 7 children born to Arvil T. and Lillie Bywater Forsgren. When Bob was 2 years old, his family moved to Salt Lake City. He attended South High where he excelled in basketball. After one year at the U of U he was drafted into the Army. Bob served in WWII in General Patton’s 3rd Army in France and Germany. He was proud to be part of “The Greatest Generation.” Upon his return, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden. Bob graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in business, but soon after converted to become a lifelong BYU Cougar fan.
He met Margaret Angelos, the love of his life and they were married in 1958. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Bob and Margaret built their home in Bountiful under the watchful eye of his father, a master carpenter. They had three wonderful children. Bob worked for Lever Brothers 31 years and Pfizer for 13. He had an excellent reputation for being honest, winning many awards and accolades. He was generous with his time and talents serving others, painting, roofing and doing yard work. He also volunteered painting in the Bountiful Temple. He loved working in his home and yard, especially his putting green. He golfed weekly with his 3 brothers for over 70 years, he also enjoyed playing tennis. He lived life to the fullest!
He was a genuine friend. He could relate to everyone, all loved to be around him. He always loved to visit and share a soda pop with anyone that came by. Bob loved the gospel. He enjoyed giving ties to missionaries, ward members and friends. He served in many callings in the church but his favorite was that of a greeter. He simply loved people.
