Robert F. Gibbs, our loving dad, grandpa and dear friend completed his journey in this life and began anew with his eternal sweetheart on February 25, 2011. Grandpa was born September 21, 1924 to Richard and Agnes Gibbs in Reliance, Wyoming. Grandpa was the seventh of eight children. He adored his siblings and held great memories of their time spent growing up. After his graduation from Reliance High, Grandpa moved from Wyoming to Utah where he would attend the University of Utah for a brief time before joining the service. His service in the military took him to England where he served as an airplane mechanic. Grandpa returned home from WWII shortly after D-Day. It was only a matter of time before he met his dear sweet Rhea. Grandpa and Grandma were married on June12, 1947 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. From this important decision they began their eternal family; Bobby, Diane, Peggy and David were his world. Through unconditional love he supported his children as they grew to raise families of their own. As a devoted and loving Grandfather he was often found spoiling his grandchildren, eager to give all he had to ensure their happiness. Truly a disciple of our Savior, he lived and loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through example he has taught his children, grand children and great grand children the importance of being kind, honest and loving. Preceding him in death were his parents, Agnes and Richard; his seven siblings: William (Bill), Sally, Richard, Mart, Earl, Charles (Chick), and Betty. His wife Rhea and his son Bob were also among those waiting on the other side for his return. Grandpa loved his family and will be deeply missed by those he left behind. He is survived by his children: Diane and Bob Taylor, Peggy and Ralph Graham, Dave and Kathy Gibbs, and Shana Gibbs Ray; his 30 grand children; 28 great grandchildren; and one great- great grandchild. In Grandpas passing we are reminded of the atonement of Christ and the plan of salvation, it is through this that families are together forever. We look forward to the time when we can reunite with him and all of our loved ones. We know that between now and that time of reunion he will be near, continuing to love and support his posterity in a way his earthly body would not have allowed. We love you Grandpa and are so happy that you are once again in Grandmas arms. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Bountiful 53rd Ward Chapel, 1350 N. 650 E.
