Our beloved father, grandfather, and friend peacefully passed away on April 22, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah. Bob, as he was known to all, was born April 17, 1922 in Bountiful, Utah to Mabel Wood and Jesse Myron Goodfellow. He attended Stoker Elementary, Bountiful Junior H.S., and Davis H.S. He married his best friend since the fourth grade, Kathryn Bangerter on May 8, 1942. Bob and Kate were married 67 years.
Bob attended City College of New York and graduated from the University of Utah College of Engineering in 1948. He loved his country as evidenced by his service in Europe in World War II and 30 years as a civilian employee of the United States Air Force at Hill Air Force Base. At Hill, Bob led the engineering department and retired as the Deputy Chief of Commodities Item Management Division and as an Executive Assistant to the Commander in 1977.
Bob took over the farming of the family peach and apple orchards in Bountiful. He loved hard work and making things grow and thrive. He loved his family and was an amazing father. Bob was a true engineer. He could fix anything and took great pride in all his work. He taught those close to him the value of logical and critical thinking and problem solving. We are all better for it. His kind smile, bright blue eyes, and gentle demeanor will be missed by those who knew him.
Bob joins his wife and sons, Gary and Mike Goodfellow, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Goodfellow and son Richard Goodfellow; daughters-in-law, Mary Tullius, Cheryl Goodfellow, and Dione Goodfellow; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; siblings Barbara (Dee) Burningham, and Paul (Jackie) Goodfellow.
We wish to thank the special staff at the Inn on Barton Creek Assisted Living and South Davis Home Health and Hospice for their kind and compassionate service to Dad and the family.
A memorial to Dad’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. Family and friends may call at the same location Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Bountiful City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please spend some time with someone you love.
